Coiste Glas na Scoile 2023-2024

Oibríonn coiste glas na scoile, atá faoi stiúr Niamh, Máire agus Caoimhe i mbliana go dian chun Gaelscoil Bhrian Bóroimhe a choinneáil glas. Go dtí seo tá ocht mbratach ghlas faighte ag an scoil – ceann don bhruscar, ceann don chaomhnú fuinnimh, ceann don chaomhnú uisce, ceann don taisteal inbhuanaithe ar scoil, ceann don bhithéagsúlacht, ceann don saoránacht domhanda bruscar, ceann don saorántacht domhanda fuinneamh agus an ceann is deireannaí don saorántacht domhanda – timpeallacht mhuirí. I mbliana tá an coiste ag oibriú go dian ar an naoú bratach; sin don taisteal agus saorántacht domhanda.  Bíonn cruinnithe rialta ag an gcoiste chun bealaí glasa na scoile a phlé agus a fhorbairt. Coinnigh súil amach don obair iontach atá ar siúl ins an gailearaí agus faoin nuacht is déanaí.

Our green schools committee, under the supervision of múinteoirí Niamh, Máire and Caoimhe this year work hard at implementing ‘green ways’ in Gaelscoil Bhrian Bóroimhe. To date the school has been presented with eight green flags – for the management of waste, for the conservation of energy, for the conservation of water, for sustainable travel, for biodiversity, for global citizenship (litter and waste) for global citizenship (energy) and the most recent last year for global citizenship (marine environment). This year’s committee are working diligently on the schools ninth flag, which is for global citizenship (travel). The committee meet on a regular basis to discuss and plan the ongoing green work in the school. Keep an eye on the gallery and latest news for further updates.

After last year’s great success with the swap, reuse and recycle of Halloween costumes, the committee ran the swop shop again this year. Keep an eye on the latest news and the gallery for updates and photographs.

Bratach nua 2022-2024

An Naoú bratach ná an taisteal agus Saorántacht domhanda . Leis an mbratach seo a bhaint amach beimid ag leanúint leis an obair iontach atá déanta chun daoine a mhúscailt siúil, rothaíocht, scútáil, córas iompar poiblí nó carr-roinnt a dhéanamh ar scoil.  In éineacht le sin, beimid ag fiosrú conas mar a chabhraíonn an gníomhú seo le deá-thionchar a bheith againn ar fhadbanna domhanda cosúil le caighdeán aeir agus forbairt inbhuanaithe.

This year’s flag is for global citizenship and travel.  To obtain this flag the green schools comittee will continue the excellent work already undertaken encouraging children and the school community to walk, cycle, scoot, take the bus or share a car  to school.   Along with this we will investigate the effect sustainable travel has on worldwide issues like air quality and sustainable development.
